Removing intimate images shared without consent
If an intimate image or video of you has been shared on Cookie without your consent, you can ask us to remove it. This page explains how to reach us and where to get help right now. You don't need a Cookie account, and you can file for yourself or on behalf of someone you're authorized to act for.
Our responsibilities under the law
Under U.S. law, when we receive a valid removal request from the person shown — or from someone authorized to act for them — we must remove the reported image or video and make reasonable efforts to find and remove identical copies we know about, as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after we receive the request.
How to send us a removal request
Send your request in writing to the address below. This is the only way to file a removal request under this law right now — you cannot file one from inside the Cookie app yet, and we can't say when you will be able to. Requests are read and acted on by a person, not automatically.
You do not need a Cookie account to send a request, and you do not need to sign in to this page.
You can also report the image or video with Report in the Cookie app. That sends it straight to our moderation team with a link to the content, which is often the fastest way to get it looked at — but it is not a request under this law and does not start the 48-hour clock. If you want both, do both.
What to include in your request
So we can act on your request, please include, in writing:
- your name and electronic signature
- a link to the image or video, or enough information for us to find it
- a brief, good-faith statement that it was shared without consent
- a way for us to contact you about your request
If you can't safely gather all of this, send what you have — we will still read it.
Where to get help right now
StopNCII.org and Take It Down create a digital fingerprint of your image on your own device and share only that fingerprint with participating services, so those services can block it. The image itself never leaves your device. Cookie is not currently one of those services.
